Buckeyes
So-called because of the candy’s resemblance of the nut of a Buckeye tree, which was thought to look like a buck’s eye (deer’s eye). Buckeyes are poisonous nuts, so these peanut butter and chocolate treats are a better choice for eating! There are a lot of variations of buckeyes out there, and I have spent years refining our version to what it is now – so a big thanks to everyone who served as guinea pigs
We like it real simple – just sweetened peanut butter and chocolate. There are a couple other ‘basic’ recipes on here, but none of the proportions matched this one – a factor that I consider important for ease of rolling the peanut butter balls. If they are too soft/sticky, you can’t roll them, and you don’t want them too hard. So I find this proportion to work quite well for us. A friend asked for this recipe to use for her wedding favors – came out wonderfully! Recipe is also easily halved – I do that frequently, with excellent results. — posted by Starrynews
Lawmakers eye tax on candy
Savor those candy canes now. Come next Christmas, they and other treats might be a bit more expensive.
Sparkling Icy Crunch Fudge
This is simple enough for kids to make, with adequate supervision. It turns out quite impressive-looking with a pleasant texture/flavour contrast. Makes a perfect gift for teachers, youth leaders, etc. Adapted from Canadian Family Magazine. — posted by Cecily Parsley
Storybook Peanut Butter Drops
This candy recipe is based on one found in one of my daughter’s childhood books, in the 1990s. It is an easy microwaveble candy recipe that can be made with young children. Fast to prepare, with just a few ingredients needed. — posted by planning2

Quick Minty Fudge
This is relatively simple to make and has a nice balance of chocolate and mint. I made this for christmas this year and it was gone before I knew it. My mom gave me the recipe, so it may well have been from Pampered Chef originally. — posted by KrazedKook
